Elenovo Mavrud is crafted from grapes grown in a selected vineyard which is located on a hilly terrain over limestone with predominant small rocks, providing exposure and conditions to produce a special wine with lots of character. Winemaking: Hand-picked grapes. Aged 18 months in Bulgarian oak barrels. Tasting notes: Intense red color with brownish hues, and attractive nose, rich in ripe cherries, with hints of mushrooms, dry leaves, and walnut. The body is full and supple, rich in soft tannins. Winery: Edoardo Miroglio Winery is a Bulgarian winery founded in 2002 by the Italian entrepreneur Edoardo Miroglio, owner of Tenuta Carreta in Piobesi d’Alba. The winery is situated in South East Bulgaria near Elenovo Village in the Thracian Lowlands. The winery has the capacity to produce 1.5 million bottles per year. As of 2013 part of the vineyards were certified as organic, currently producing four organic wines (red, white and rose), made from Viognier, Traminer, Mavrud, Rubin and Bouquet grape varieties. The head winemaker is assisted by the world renowned consultant Marco Monchiero and viticulturist Alberto La Rosa from Italy.
