If this wine could sing, perhaps it would be a tenor with a range of rich and colorful notes and flavors. A complex aria of blackberry and cherry tinged with black pepper and spice fills the nose. Further study reveals chocolate, mocha, milk chocolate and vanilla, which makes for delightful anticipation of the flavors to come. The tannins are restrained for Diamond Mountain, yet significantly rich with grip and some astringency. French oak gifts spice notes and a mouthfeel that is medium to full; very balanced and proportional and it carries itself gracefully. Its pretty, correct red color draws comparison to a really good Bordeaux. Blackberry, chocolate, cassis… this wine evolves and changes in the glass, making it a thrill to drink and discuss as the evening progresses. The 2013 Frisson Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine with octaves of depth and character, and a performance you will want to applaud again and again.
