Orbelus is Bulgaria’s first certified organic winery. The vineyards are situated in southwestern Bulgaria (near the Greek border) on the hillsides along the Struma River, at the base of the Pirin mountains, where the local indigenous variety Melnik has found its best terroir. Winemaking: Training style Cordon de Royat guaranteeing low yield, additionally regulated up to 1 kg/vine. Soil is sandy clay loam, sandy loam. Produced from handpicked organic grapes selected in a two-stage process; non filtered. Aging: 15% aged in used oak barrels for 3 months and the remaining in stainless steel tanks. Tasting notes: Deep crimson. Bright, sweet cherry and plum. Gentle, dry chalky texture – finesse as well as juicy fruit. Long, dry, mineral texture to the finish.
