WINEMAKER NOTES
The 2013 vintage was another banner vintage for Dry Creek Valley vintners. With generally mild weather throughout the growing season, harvest was mostly early, given the near perfect conditions from that summer. Then there was some timely cooling that allowed the Zinfandel to ripen and mature fully. Even some other local winemakers from the region agree. Clay Mauritson of Mauritson Wines says, “2013 was a fast and furious harvest... The quality is outstanding and, so far, the Zinfandels are the winner of the bunch. It could be the best in 10 years!”
The 2013 SONOMA COUNTY RANCHES ZINFANDEL is powerful in wild blackberry, black raspberry and mulberry fruit, the wine also exhibits cola, mocha and chamomile notes liberally accented with crushed black pepper, dark chocolate, nutmeg and allspice. This wine finishes complex, long and absolutely dry.
