This is a steep south west facing hillside within Premier Vineyard in Los Alamos Valley planted to clones Swiss 2A & Dijon 115. The Clone 2A is pretty red berry fruits: strawberry and raspberry, along with pretty floral notes. The Clone 115 brings black berry fruits, spice and structure to the blend. The fruit is hand sorted into large open French Oak barrels & fermented for 2 weeks whole cluster. It is then gently drained & pressed in a large basket press directly to barrel. Aged in 3 year old and seasoned French Oak barrels on the lees for 36 months, plus an additional year in bottle. Schaefer On Wine: "Lighter in color than most, it shows strawberry and cinnamon on the nose. Both red and black berry fruit on the palate, the wine is boisterous and generous with hints of characteristic earthiness. Well structured, it has the gravitas to age for many more years. It shows a certain finesse that follows through to the finish." Dennis Schaefer SB News Press 06/14/18
