Deer Creek Vineyards was started in 1988 and is located in Southern Oregon nestled between the Coast Range and the Siskiyou Mountains within the Illinois Valley (30 miles from the coast). The climate provides warm days, cooler nights and moderate marine influences.  Moderate yields of 1.5/2.5 tons per acre, loamy, and well-drained soils with a wonderful growing season generally leads to abundant harvests with full flavor development at optimal sugar levels and balanced acidities, giving the wines a great balance of moderate alcohols. We farm sustainably, and we utilize wild/native yeasts to produce our wines. Our winemakers are Herb Quady & Brian Gruber of Barrel 42, (Quady North brand)

Vineyards: All of the fruit for this Pinot Noir came from our Wadensvile, Dijon and Pommard Blocks.

Winemaking: This Pinot noir wine was made utilizing approximately 42% new French oak barrels and the rest into 1, 2, and 3 year old French oak barrels where it underwent secondary fermentation. The wine was barrel aged for a year and a half. Then in bottle for a year before release.

Tasting Notes: This wine has a powerful nose of cherry blossoms, earth, red and blue fruit. It shows rich fruit upfront with a plush texture that layers richness, acid and tannin with great balance. On the palate, the wine shows dark cherries, plum, blueberry and blackberry with a long, spicy, mouthwatering finish.
