The 2015 Franny Beck Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is an impeccably lithe yet nuanced wine, given the warm, dry vintage. The fruit was harvested across all of our vineyards between September 4th and October 6th when physiological ripeness had occurred. All fermentations were conducted in 1.5 ton fermenters to ensure small lot individuality and clonal distinctiveness with twice daily punchdowns by foot. The wines were then barreled into 100% French oak, 12% of which were new, and aged for 16 months. The resulting wine is a beautiful representation of all the best that the valley and the vintage gave us. The Willamette Valley is nothing if not vintage specific; this is our goal with our Willamette Valley bottling year to year. 215 cases produced. The finished octane is 13.4 percent and the wine is lovely, encompassing many of the appealing elements of its three constituent components. The bouquet is a deep and complex blend of red and black cherries, cocoa, lovely spice elements, a fine base of dark soil, a touch of fresh herbs and a discreet framing of cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, complex and very nicely balanced, with a good core of fruit, lovely soil tones, tangy acids and a long, classy finish that closes with fine-grained tannins and impeccable balance. Lovely juice." Drink 2017-2050. 92+ points
