Winemaking is a family business. We sincerely hope to share our vision of the Dão, a region of excellent wines that only improve with time. But more than that: a beautiful place, with friendly people that sing on harvest day, following the tradition of many generations. It is also a region under transformation, with a growing number of producers making award winning, and internationally recognized wines. We are part of this process and believe in the result of the combination of tradition with technology. Juliana C. Kelman has both Brazilian and Portuguese citizenships. Her grandparents left Portugal for Brazil in the 1940s and 70+ years later the pendulum is now swinging back. She and her husband Rafael work hard to praise the great produce of this land. They enjoy doing every bit of it and welcome you to join the ride. Vinification: A red blend of the four typical grapes of Dão, hand harvested and sorted in the cellar. After destemming, these varietals are individually crushed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. A careful maceration is made for the best expression and typicity of each grape varietal. Touriga Nacional is aged in used French oak barrels for 12 months, with the rest remaining in stainless steel tanks. Natural stabilization and slight filtration maintain this wine's aromatic potential. Varietals: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Afroscheiro, Jaen. Color: Intense ruby. Tasting Notes: Ripe red fruit aromas, hints of wild berries and spicy, floral notes. The natural acidity and refined structure create a balanced and smooth-bodied wine. Mineral character provides freshness, with volume and a harmonious finish. Pairing: Meat dishes and cured cheese. Aging Potential: Enjoy now or wait, as this wine has excellent aging potential. Decanting recommended; light sediments might settle with age.
